Glad you asked. We’re in the region of Paraje Altamira within the famous La Consulta District of the Uco Valley. Paraje Altamira is unique due to its concentration of stony soils with layers of calcium carbonate, its sky-high altitude (1,100m!), and its great shift in temperature from day to night.
Fermentation in concrete eggs, followed by 8 months of aging in Italian amphorae. No fining, nor filtration. Estate bottled, ya!
A surge of dark fruits and a few red ones draw you into the glass like a magnet. Then, underneath all the big sweet and sour fruits, there’s the goodness of earth: wild mushroom, violet greens, and licorice-like spice. So good by itself, skip the meat and dive into the power of conversation.
Petit Verdot is native to Southwestern France and was brought to Mendoza in the 1800s. Primarily a blending grape, Petit Verdot adds inky color along with exotic notes of violets, sweet stone, and black spice.
You’re craving a bold red, but you’re so over Cabernet Sauvignon. You’re in the mood for lush dark fruits without the headache of alcohol and that fake gloss of new oak. So, grab a wine-loving friend and share the joy of wine!
